Sahariel hails from a small, secluded tribe of Viera who dwelled in the harsh moutains of the Coerthas Highlands. Her mother set out from the mountains when she fell pregnant to an outsider and made her way to Ishgard, where she would raise her daughter while working as a maid for a noble family. Sahariel grew up quickly, having had to take care of herself and their home while her mother worked, and this sense of responsibility is still deeply ingrained in her. She spent her childhood playing in the woods and roaming the manor with the adopted daughter of the family her mother worked for, a bookworm Miqo'te named Eriol. Eriol taught Sahariel how to read and write in the common tongue, and encouraged her to explore the world beyond the manor grounds, leading to her interest in history and love of fantasies.

She inherited her mother's appearance (though her ears are a bit shorter and more rounded than other Viera) but her father's taste for battle. The young girl took to watching the Knights Dragoon and emulating them in the woods in an attempt to become self-taught and one day join their ranks, dragging her friends into the forest with her on many occasions. It was on one such occasion, wielding a shoddy bow and a stick as a lance when she and Eriol were happened upon by a monster. After defeating the beast, the Viera was acknowledged by the Lord of the family for saving his daughter's life, and Sahariel was taken under Ser Alberic Bale's wing to be formally trained.Her first lessons from Alberic involved fighting alongside the Knights of the Holy See at a grand tournament, as he wanted to see what kind of fighter his new squire could make. The training proved difficult, but she took to it naturally, and was recommended by Aymeric himself for promotion to squire Temple Knight after seeing her performance at the tournament. This marked a turning point in Sahariel's life, as she saw her future not as a humble servant, but rather as someone who would fight alongside her brothers and sisters in arms. She continued to hone her skills throughout the year, competing in tournaments and training diligently until she finally earned her place as a Knight Dragoon.Sahariel is always striving to learn new skills and to see the world so she traveled from Ishgard to the desert city-state of Ul'dah to better her skills with sword and blade, and learn different crafts. She is currently working freelance between adventures.
